  • On 07/10/2013

Rice Warner CEO Michael Rice today offered resounding congratulations on behalf of the firm to several high achieving women from the superannuation industry named among Australia’s 100 Women of Influence.

It’s a high quality list, which of course includes our very own woman of influence and Deputy CEO, Melissa Fuller. We are all very pleased to see Melissa being named a finalist amongst the prestigious ranks of inspirational women working in many spheres around Australia. – Michael Rice, CEO.

The list includes Pauline Vamos, CEO of ASFA, Anne-Marie Corboy, CEO of HESTA, Elana Rubin, Director of MLC and Anne Ward, Chair of Qantas Super.

Melissa was today honoured in the Diversity category of the Australian Financial Review/Westpac Group 100 Women of Influence Awards.  Melissa will attend the upcoming awards event on Thursday 17 October.

Melissa’s nomination to the Awards was made for her tireless work to bring the issue of female inadequacy in retirement outcomes to the public domain.

“The main point of Melissa’s recognition today is the awareness created on the critical issue of addressing the inequity in retirement outcomes for all women”.

“Melissa is a humble, but deserving recipient of this nomination and everyone at Rice Warner is delighted at this public recognition of her work”. Mr Rice said.

Background to the Nomination

Rice Warner recently released details of a first for an Australian business, offering its female employees a package of remuneration benefits designed to bring their expected retirement savings outcomes into line with those of male counterparts.

The new arrangements commenced on 1 July 2013 (see below Valuing Females Package).  It means Rice Warner’s female employees will be provided with a package of benefits, including flexible working conditions, generous paid parental leave, superannuation payments and long service leave accrued during parental leave, access to an educational program and an additional superannuation payment of 2% of salary.

Rice Warner Deputy CEO, Melissa Fuller led the firm’s research into the retirement savings gap for females, with her investigations sparking her mission to uncover a practical solution suitable for Rice Warner, in respect of its own female staff, and to help redress the financial wellbeing challenges faced by all Australian women in retirement.
