Self-Directed Advice tools drive deeper engagement

A major Australian industry superannuation fund with 240,000 members approached Rice Warner with a challenge that is common to many similar funds: drive member engagement and help raise the educational and learning opportunities for the fund’s members.

Our brief was to deliver an online, interactive and statistically reliable means to help achieve this outcome.


Our Response

We set about to understand the Fund intimately, including its membership profile. We collaborated on developing a suite of public facing online tools that were not only user-friendly (in terms of look and feel) but importantly both accurate and compliant.

Three customised mobile tools were developed and are in use today. They are simple, easy to use, and convey complex calculations and messages to members in a clear and logical, simple-to-understand manner.

The tools were built using a fully responsive design that is optimised for personal tablets and mobile devices.  This provides an enhanced member experience which encourages members to not only self-educate, but enables them to go an extra step and seek financial advice.


Fund members can now easily assess their retirement adequacy at any time, investigate their risk insurance needs and the impact of additional superannuation contributions. All simply. All efficiently.
